News basically #1 (Version R0.4)


HEEEYYYYY

so I didn't release anything, but a comment on this page made me realize I should probably post news about how things are going

I was originally intending for Version R0.4 to be a singleplayer focused update with no new characters, but then I realized: We only have 4 characters and stages. How on earth do you make a compelling classic mode with that? Anyways, I'm adding characters and stages to the next update alongside classic mode and CPUs.

I've overhauled Mario's down special to be more reminiscent of his spin attack in Super Mario Galaxy. It can only be recovered on the ground and has plenty of cooldown, but in exchange, it's a very (and I mean very) quick smash attack.

I'm working on Bass! I managed to get all of his non-attack-based animations and sounds implemented, and let's just say that he falls very fast (like an anvil). He still has 3 jumps in total, and his taunt now uses a different voice line (since the old one referenced Treble/Gospel even though he wasn't even there?). He has some new palettes that now also change the black on his armor rather than just his aerodynamic head accessories. Overall, things are moving along smoothly. Since all his universal mechanics are finished, I'm now going to work on his moves. Catch you on the flipside.
